Investors - P / Loan Descriptions Missing
September 18, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
I hate that they got rid of the descriptions. The number of spelling mistakes in a listing was the single strongest adverse indicator that I have ever found. Truth be told, its significance declined in 2012 and 2013 as the average length of the description declined (and many applicants wrote nothing at all). Unsurprisingly, the number of complete sentences was a very good positive indicator.

Like you said, words like "bankruptcy" or "divorce" were strong adverse indicators.

Investors - P / When do New Prosper loans Hit?
September 18, 2013, 11:00:00 PM
They go up at 9AM PT and 5PM PT Mon-Fri and at Noon PT on Saturday and Sunday. This schedule holds on holidays too so don't expect Noon postings on Thanksgiving.

Prosper occasionally messes up and posts at non-scheduled times but this is rare (<5% of all listings).

Investors - P / Is Prosper turning around?
December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM
And you're correct. Listings and originations are both way up in April, but the majority of the loans are being taken down in the whole-loan pool and are not accessible to retail investors. Of the loans that do make it into the fractional pool, most are quickly taken down by API bidders and are available for only minutes on the website.

To give you an idea of what's going on, 59 new listings were added this evening: 25 in the whole loan program and 34 in the fractional pool. Within 10mins of 5pm PT, all of the 25 whole-loan pool loans were filled and 11 of the fractional pool loans were filled. That's 61% of the evening's loans. It's good news for Prosper but, yes, relative to 1 month ago, the number of loans accessible to retails investors is down by ~50%. Keep in mind that the loans that get filled quickly are of higher quality than the ones that remain. The leftover ones are available precisely because others chose not to bid on them.

The link to the LoanPerformance page only works for lenders who are on that loan. On that page, there is a link called "View Listing". Can you open that and tell us the Listing Number of the loan that you have a question about? It's the last 6 digits of the Listing page's link (e.g. 633560 in https://www.prosper.com/invest/listing.aspx?listingID=633560" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">https://www.prosper.com/invest/listing.aspx?listingID=633560).

I'm putting together a tool to calculate dollar loan returns for any loan or portfolio on Prosper (http://www.lendingchampion.com" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">www.lendingchampion.com) and I think that I have a guess as to what might have happened. I usually see a loan gap from Current to 31+days late when:
1. The borrower is late and the note is marked as 15-30 days late
2. The borrower makes a payment and Prosper marks the loan as Current
3. The payment fails. This usually takes 3-5 days business days to be reflected in the payment history.
4. Prosper marks the loan as 15-30 days late again or, if enough time has passed, 31+ days late.
